Windy Whyalla
turned on a
blustery day for
the NAB 150 Tour
and which had
our activities
blowing left
right and
centre! Out to
brave the cool
weather and
winds though
were a bunch of
very
enthusiastic
locals and
plenty of great
NAB staff. AFL loving youngsters were keen to meet AFL Ambassador and Adelaide Crows star, Ken McGregor and he chatted with them and signed autographs before turning his attention to the all important big kick showdown. Ken presided over the Big Kick competition which turned quite comical with the winds blowing some kicks well off course! The various age group winners came through though after a tough battle and collected their prizes. The AFL also awarded special 150th commemorative plaques to some wonderful local volunteers who have contributed an incredible amount of time and energy into the sport in Whyalla over a number of years.
The afternoon’s
entertainment
brought some die
hard country
fans out to
party as SA
local Tiffney
Stroh took to
the stage
followed by lead
act, the very
popular Adam
Brand. Boots
tapped the
ground and fans
sang loudly
along to his
many country
music chart
topping tunes
and the heavy
gale blowing
through the park
paled into
insignificance
as too much fun
was being had!
Some lucky radio
prize winners
also got the
chance to meet
Adam backstage
for a meet and
greet session. So thank you Whyalla for making us feel so welcome and breaking up our time on the road with such a warm welcoming stopover in your town. Thank you in particular to Mary and Johan, managers of the NAB in Whyalla. |
